Although Masters
were present by invitation only, the doors were open to nearly
2,000 professional faux and decorative artists for two
exhilarating days of demonstrations, theatre presentations and
fellowship with artists from around the globe.

A private welcome ceremony was held
the evening prior to opening day allowing Masters to be honored by
Faux Effects International. Additionally, select local interior
designers; architects and builders were invited for a sneak peek
at the latest trends in decorative finishing.
On Saturday morning, Masters arrived on site greeted by
record-breaking crowds in line at the registration kiosks. Quite
possibly the largest gathering of faux and decorative artists in
the history of the industry, Meeting of the Masters featured
ongoing demonstrations by the world’s most highly regarded
artistic masters. Additionally, many of the Masters invited fellow
gifted artisans to participate within their demonstration areas,
adding significant energy to the star-studded weekend.
Remarkable finishes, as well as fine art, were demonstrated
throughout the two-day event using state-of-the-art materials and
application techniques. Theater presentations provided additional
enlightenment on a variety of popular topics including stenciling,
finishing trends, interior design influences, furniture
restoration, using decorative painting as a design solution,
Western art, European technique with American technology, trompe
l’oeil and marbling.
Dallas sparkled as guests arrived in “Denim and Diamonds” at the
Master’s Soiree on Saturday evening. Grammy-nominated, George
Anderson’s “Signature Band” welcomed guest saxophonist Bob Marx,
Master and director of The Finishing School, at the grand gala.
The magical atmosphere made memories for a lifetime!
Two abstract public murals featured artwork by hundreds of guests
on each day. Faux Effects previewed new SuperCreme Artist Paints
and professional easels that will be introduced in first quarter
2008 to rave reviews. Both murals will be displayed at Faux
Effects International headquarters in Vero Beach, FL.
On Sunday, Masters and their guests in full attendance gathered
for a final farewell at Antonio’s Restaurant on Addison Circle.
Glasses were raised in camaraderie celebrating a successful
Meeting of the Masters 2007 and looking forward to gathering once
again in 2009.
“We are already planning for the next event and scheduling site
tours to determine the ideal setting for Meeting of the Masters
2009,” explains Raymond Sandor, artistic master, founder and
president of Faux Effects International. “This year’s success will
be a hard act to follow. However, it is our goal to host Meeting
of the Masters every two years to provide decorative artists with
a unique educational platform at a venue that instills the
greatest level of inspiration.”
